Weather, money, shopping and other tips!

Weather: Poland has a moderate climate with both maritime and continental elements. Usual daytime temperature in June is 21°. Please note that there is always a chance of showers, due to variable weather patterns. With proper attire and planning, travellers will find it quite easy to maintain a comfortable stay.

Language: Polish is the official language in Poland but English is popular and is spoken by many people.

Forum Language: The official language during the conference is English, no simultaneous translation will be provided.

Currency and Banks: The currency is Polish Zloty (PLN). Other currencies can be changed at exchange points, banks and hotels. It is not advisable to change money at the airport, because of very bad exchange rates! Cash machines are very popular and offer reasonable exchange rates. Banking times are 08.00-17.00 every day except Saturday and Sunday.

Shopping: Most shops and department stores are open from 09.00-18.00 Monday to Friday. Saturday from 10.00-17.00 hours. Sunday all shops are mostly closed. Major credit cards are widely accepted.

Tipping: Service is almost always included in hotel and restaurant bills. A further tip of a few coins is appropriate. Typically, the tipping in restaurants would be around 7-10%.

Time: Poland is one hour ahead on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time.

Power: In Poland the power is 220V and electricity power plugs and sockets are standard European.

Insurance: The Organizer cannot accept any liability for personal injuries or loss or damage to properties belonging to participants, either during or as a result of the Forum. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel insurance.
